Stunning Wedding in Alexo, AB
On a stunning September day, David and Janet tied the knot in a picturesque setting near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. September 21, 2024, turned out to be everything they’d hoped for—sunny, warm, and absolutely perfect for a fall wedding. The trees around them were dressed in vibrant shades of yellow and green, creating a breathtaking backdrop for their special day.
The couple chose a lovely outdoor venue in Alexo that seemed like it was pulled straight from a fairytale, a place where Janet had poured her heart and soul into over the years. As guests arrived, they were immersed in a quiet hum of energy and the joyful buzz of laughter. The air was crisp and filled with the scent of autumn, setting the tone for a cozy celebration.
Janet looked absolutely radiant in her beautiful gown, and when she walked down the aisle, you could feel the emotion in the air. David, looking sharp in his tailored blue suit, had eyes only for her. Their vows were heartfelt, funny, and genuine, leaving many with misty eyes. It was a beautiful moment that truly captured their love. After they said "I do" and had their first kiss as husband and wife, the crowd cheered with loving excitement. Janet sheepishly smiled and laughed while David grinned from ear to ear.

After the ceremony a small train of people began to hike uphill to the location where we would take formals, stopping to capture a beautiful couples portrait and some candid sots of the flower girl as we went. With only a small number of family and friends to photograph we quickly zoomed into wedding party photos. A moment came that would spark laughter for years to come. The groom and his groomsman decided to playfully pick up another groomsman, their sister, in a hand basket. In the process, she accidentally smacked David’s boutonnière bloom right off his lapel! What could have been a disaster turned into pure comedy as David feigned dramatic heartbreak over the loss of his flower. The whole group erupted in laughter, and that playful moment became a running joke for the rest of the evening.

After the ceremony, the couple and I set off on a mini adventure to capture their wedding photos on the famous Rail Trail Trestle. We hopped on quads and sped through the stunning landscape, the excitement palpable as we rode past vibrant foliage and rolling hills. Janet wrapped herself in blankets to stay clean and David managed to spray himself with little droplets of mud. It was a perfect way to celebrate their love and create some unforgettable memories.
As we stood on the trestle, quads whizzed by, and friendly riders would slow down to give us congratulations, their smiles adding to the joy of the day. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with the backdrop of the trestle creating a striking contrast against the brilliant fall colors. Each click of the camera captured not only their love but also the pure happiness of the moment. Some of my favorite images to date were taken at the lovers bench on our way back.
With our triumphant return, guests playing lawn games paused, raised their glasses and congratulated the couple excitedly. Everyone mingled over drinks while the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over everything. Stories flowed freely, laughter echoed, and everyone was in in high spirits.

As night fell, the couple shared their first dance; It was a magical moment, as they swayed together, lost in their own world. Friends and family looked on and clapped, filling the room with energy and joy. Speeches commenced, capturing the years that brought David and Janet together. The room laughed and teared up as the stars in the night sky emerged. The couple played a round of the Shoe Game with friends and family asking them silly questions about who is the better cook, or who had nicer legs. The night for me was completed after David and Janet humbly thanked all of the people that made their wedding come together, including the caterers, DJ, bartenders, and even myself. I was so happy and appreciative for the shout out.
David and Janet’s wedding in Alexo was more than just a wedding; it was a joyful gathering of family and friends celebrating love, laughter, and a bit of playful chaos. From the breathtaking scenery to the heartfelt vows and even the hilarious boutonnière mishap, every moment was a reminder of how special it is to be surrounded by loved ones.
As they stepped into their new life together, the memories of that sunny September day would forever warm their hearts—a day filled with laughter, love, and the promise of a beautiful future.
Congratulations you two!
